CAIRNS PREMIER MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY FOR BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU AND MUAY THAI
Through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai martial arts we develop mentally and physically resilient children and adults and stimulate the pursuit of one’s best self both on and off the mats. The ripple effect…we help create a better community.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is designed to equip a physically smaller or weaker individual with an effective method of defending against a larger and stronger attacker. The fight is taken to the ground and the opponent controlled and ultimately submitted by joint locks or chokes. It requires an intense amount of focus and strategy.
Muay Thai is known as, “the art of eight limbs.” This refers to the eight points of contact used including the fists, elbows, knees, and shins. In Thai culture, Muay Thai is closely linked with Buddhism and the martial art itself emphasizes values such as respect, humility, self-control, and compassion.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
THE GENTLE ART
Cairns’ largest and longest running Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy, with TEN Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts. We are the ONLY martial arts academy in North Queensland to be able to make this claim.
We are also home to three junior Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champions. We are proud to have our roots as a DeBeen 100% Jiu Jitsu Academy Affiliate.
THE ART OF EIGHT LIMBS
Fusion Cairns is home to Coach Ethan Cannon, former Pro QLD WMC Muay Thai Champion, 2 x WKBF Australian Champion and 2 x WKBF Queensland Champion with over 30 Pro fights. Despite these outstanding achievements, at just 24 years old Ethan is very humble and unassuming with a maturity to coaching well in excess of his years.
Our Muay Thai classes classes cater to all levels from beginner to advanced. We have Muay Thai for fitness classes, beginner, fighters and sparring/clinching classes, we have them all.
